Mr. Umesh Lama graduated with a M. Sc. Ag. (Masters in Agricultural Science) from the UK and B. Sc. Ag. from IAAS (Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science) Rampur campus, Nepal. He has worked with United Mission to Nepal (UMN) and at CARE Nepal in various positions as a program manager and as a senior advisor. Mr. Lama has visited 21 countries of different continents while attending seminars, conferences, and workshops on organic agriculture. Furthermore, he has served as President and Chairperson of Nepal Permaculture Group (NPG) and NEST.

Mr. Lama is also a member of the Asian Research Network in Organic Agriculture (ARNOA) based in Seoul, Korea, and the Nepal Coalition of Food Security and Water (NCFAW).
